Local Reaction to Outlawing Skateboard Possession
It is, simply, a length of laminated wood with two sets of wheels * attached. Why then is City Council in Cape May trying to ban the mere possession of a skateboard? Skateboard Carrying Outlawed in New Jersey City?
At a time when many towns are building skateboard parks, the Cape May, New Jersey * City Council plans to ban the mere possession of the boards in some public areas. Without taking comments from their constituents, the council unanimously introduced an ordinance that makes it illegal to 'possess, park or stand, carry or transport,' any skateboard at some public places within the city. A public hearing on the ordinance is set for 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, 643 Washington * St., Cape May, New Jersey on Tuesday, December 16. (Full Article) Search *

Skateboard Ban "Will Not Be Passed" in Cape May, New Jersey
The city ordinance forwarded without public comment which would levy a $100 fine and possible skateboard confiscation against anyone who would "possess, park, stand, carry, or transport" a skateboard "will not be passed", said the town's Mayor. "It borders on constitutional rights", said Councilman Jerry Gaffney. But some feel that the ban should still be considered. (Full Article) Search *
