New York * -- According to the Ontario * website "SooToday", the BeatsWalkinEurope team is set to begin a 4000-kilometer (2485 mile) 'skate marathon' from England *'s North Devon, through France *, Switzerland * and Spain *. The group aims to raise funds and awareness for three children's charities, including the Lowe Syndrome Trust and Link Community Development. Scheduled to begin in July, 2007, Sam Benson and Jay Duggan will follow the path of Dave Cornthwaite's 2006 journey. (Cornthwaite has also skateboarded across Australia *. There is no word on whether or not the pair will be skateboarding on the train while crossing the English * Channel.) The two also aim to promote sports to youngsters of all ages and abilities, and encourage a 'no-limits' approach to life. The duo plans to take 8 to 10 weeks to travel the distance, which works out to a rate of at least 42 kilometers (26.6 miles) each day.

According to UK *'s WorldScreen.com, the Disney Channel is seeking input for the script of the sequel to the movie High School Musical. Questions on the related poll include what skateboard trick will play a role in the movie, the message on the protagonist's t-shirt, and what additions one character should have on her golf cart. Disney claims the original production has been seen by over 127 million viewers.

Michigan *'s Battle Creek Enquirer reports that the W.K. Kellogg foundation has granted two million dollars for the construction and promotion of a 40-mile bike, skateboard and pedestrian path connecting Battle Creek with Kalamazoo. Strangely, of the $2M, one quarter is specified to pay for construction, and the remainder go towards encouraging people to use the trail. "We want to promote connectivity for not only Battle Creek and Kalamazoo but for the whole of southwest Michigan." said Friends of the Kalamazoo River Valley Trailway boardmember Toni Thompson. The path is planned to be paved with asphalt and be open to pedestrians and non motorized vehicles such as skateboards, bicycles, and scooters. About two miles of the trail are already complete in Kalamazoo. After the trail is completed, it will be turned over to the Kalamazoo county parks department, along with an additional $2M endowment from which investment returns are expected to pay for maintanance of the path. Jerry Albertson, a board member of the Parks Foundation of Kalamazoo County, which is also involved in the project, called it "beyond a dream come true."
