San Diego *-- A new game show, "Skatepeordy", is set to debut at this years ASR Trade Show in San Diego September 5th and 6th 2003 *. The show tests competing retailers teamed with "top athletes and industry leaders" on their knowledge of skateboard history.
The show is to be hosted by Sal Barbier *, and "sarcasm and laughter" are intended to be the tone as participants are asked skateboard history questions from such industry players as Kevin Wilkens (Transworld), Mike Burnet (Thrasher), Jordan Richter (Premise), and Sal Barbier (Aesthetics, Elwood). The event is to take place in the special events area from 11:30 a.m. to noon and 3 to 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 5th and 6th, 2003 at this year's fall trade expo in San Diego.
Promoters intend the event to be "fast, fun and exciting".
The event, sponsored by skatepark * manufacturer Skatewave *(TM), is intended to be unique addition to the other festivities at the ASR Trade Expo.
Organizers at the ASR, and Premise Intelligence Agency, an consulting and marketing firm, are excited to have partnered in producing what they claim is "the industry's first game show".
"Attendees love the skateboard demos: they are timeless, but we wanted to bring the industry a new event that is fun, entertaining and offers value to the retailer," said Premise co-founder Gregg Witt.
Premise's Jordan Richter, who designs skateparks * as part of his job, had a more grassroots spin on the event: "I think it's a great opportunity for retailers to get a chance to be involved with the company owners and the industry." He explained that usually retailers don't actually get any chance to interact directly with the company owners in a non-business setting.
The ASR Trade Show is organized by VNU Business Media, which "produces over 50 business-to-business tradeshows and educational conferences". Premise Intelligence Agency is a San Diego "youth marketing and consulting firm" whose goal is to "contribute experience and guidance from inside the action sports culture".
