Trails Insurance Benefit - Barbecue - Bonfire

November 7th, 2008

There will be a benefit to raise the insurance money for St. Louis Bike Park “South County / Figure 8 trails” on November 23 at noon down at the trails.  It’s B.Y.O.B.  That’s “bring your own barbecue.”  We’ll be selling hotdogs and drinks, but if you want a T-bone or strip steak bring your own.  We’ll have a few pits set up.  Red Bull will be stopping by to start the fire.

We’re having a scavenger hunt for “little Russ.”  Whoever finds him wins a 1YEAR PASS TO THE SKATEPARK!

If you need directions, check out the ST. LOUIS BIKE PARK page to the right in the navigation menu.

OCTOBER NEWS

November 7th, 2008

Man!  Time flys the older you get.  I always heard comments like that from “old” people when I was growing up, and now I’m the one saying the same things.  October was AWESOME!  The Bucknutty Jam was SO MUCH FUN!  Watching everyone ride was cool.  Especially all of you locals.  I see you guys riding all the time, but I rarely get to see everyone put their skills together in a run.  For those of you who don’t know Andy Chapmen, he was announcing at the jam.  He is the O-ffical RR announcer, DJ, hypeman, king of awesomeness.  There was so much insanity going on I’ll just give you a few highlights.  Kyle Stegman boosting, Tyler Pikul flowing from one section of the park to the next with transfers, Zach Zueschel trickin’ and flowing,  Jeff Dickinson flipped from the hip to the box landing going into the vertwall, Adam Guilliams’ tuck-no-hander 360 over the big box, John Rodgers’ front flipped the box into the vertwall, Jake Wheeler wall rode and fakied a pole out of the 4 foot quarter in the street section, Joe West tailwhip-fufanued the massive wedge hip, Craig Schrock’s enthusiasm, Andy Seehausen abubacaed the handrail on the 6 foot for best trick; I could keep going and going.  If anyone has pictures of the contest PLEASE send them to me, and I’ll post them on the site.  I forgot my damn camera the day of the contest.

Thanks again to all of our sponsors:  Animal, Demolition, Dk Bicycle Co, Duo Brand, Eastern Bikes, Fehlig Bros Box & Lumber Company, Fit Bike Co, Hoffman Bikes, Kink Bike Co, Profile, Red Bull, Revenge Industries, S&M Bikes, Super Human Clothing, Tree Bicycle Co, United, Verde, and Volume.  A special thanks goes out to Red Bull for putting up the $1000 pro purse and Pat O’Leary from Fehlig Bros. Box & Lumber Company for making the KICKASS trophies.  Please support the companies that support what we all love to do.

There are three things guaranteed to happen at an All Nighter:

No. 1 - FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!

No. 2 - Red Bull will give you so much to drink, that your blood will turn INTO Red Bull, and you will shred uncontrolably until you spontaneously combust.

No. 3 - You will eat too many hotdogs and regret the smells that come from your body the next day.

Brandon ? walked away with a new RR deck for winning the game of S.K.A.T.E.  Brian Zeuschel changed his middle name to “All Nighter,”  because they FREAKING ROCK!!!!

Well….it doesn’t look like we will be done with the park by Thanksgiving.  I’m getting tired of the way my foot tastes.  I’m way too optimistic.  The change is slowly happening though, isn’t it.  Maybe January?  We just finished the new micro mini.  Check it out in the “New Ramps” pictures to the right.

SEPTEMBER NEWS

October 17th, 2008

The All Nighter was a blast!  There were lots of shredders at the park.  Shawn ? won the game of skate.  We drew the winning raffle tickets.  Matt Griffith won the custom Plan B Ryan Sheckler complete skateboard, and Zach Merlenbach won Jack O’Leary’s custom Failure complete BMX bike.  Both of them were stoked beyond belief.

The Ramp Riders team has been performing demos to help promote the park and the sports.  We had one downtown at Soldier’s Memorial for the Tour of Missouri festival.  We also had one at Gateway Raceway’s last Midnight Madness event of the year.  It looks like we’ll be a part of next year’s Midnight Madness series also.  It’s AWESOME!

We haven’t decided on a layout for the street course yet.  If you have any ideas for the area between the vertwall section and the rhythm; from the 6.5′ quarter back to the storage shed, email me or drop off drawings at the counter.  We also want to change the skate area (three stair area) from the bowl corner along the back wall to the storage shed.
