Skateboard News Grab Bag: Comet To Ithaca; Human-Powered Offroad "Skateboard"

Currently-California *-based company Comet Skateboards, which is set to make a biodegradable "Green" skateboard with partner e2e Materials, is moving to Ithaca to be closer to its partner. Also, 22-year old Kiwi industrial designer Ben Thomsen won the top prize in the Designers Institute's national award for his skateboard-like device designed to move on grass under human power. "Green" Skateboard Invented

e2e Materials of Ithica, New York *, has announced a biodegradable composite which is made completely of plant materials and which can, at least in concept, be used to make skateboards. The material is said to be ten times stronger and 25 percent lighter than current particleboards, and made from fibers of plants including bamboo, pineapple, and coconut. (Full Article) Search *
