New York * -- In Congers Lake Memorial Park's Wheel Park, the local STAR Kids program has started the third year of its learn to skateboard program, which teaches beginner and intermediate skateboarders of all ages how to improve their board skills. Reportedly, dozens of skateboarders were on hand last weekend to practice their skills on the local ramps at the park.
The program typically runs from April to October, said Steve Fox, the STAR Kids organization's chairman and co-founder.
Brian Murray, an 11-year old participant from New City, said that he enjoyed the social parts of skateboarding most of all. "You can play games and stuff like that. It's fun and you can make some friends doing it."
