New York, New York * -- Skateboarders around the world are preparing to celebrate the biggest party in Skateboarding history on June 21st 2006, known as International Go Skateboarding Day * (GSD).

Started in 2004 * and now closing in on its third anniversary, the yearly event promises to bring skateboarders of all sizes, shapes, colors, ilk, nationality, skills, and sexes to your local skateboard spot. Be a part of the organized mayhem and get out there and skate!

The annual event, which has been called "the official holiday of skateboarding" is the brainchild of The International Association of Skateboard Companies * (known within the industry as the IASC *).

As the IASC puts it, "Go Skateboarding Day is a cooperative of decentralized events that take place around the globe *. ... GSD * originated as the day for skateboarders to have fun, to raise awareness about the issues we face, to show the world what skateboarding is really all about, to reclaim our culture and to define skateboarding as the rebellious, creative celebration of independence it continues to be."

"Skateboarders: Take Over The World! Go Skateboarding Day is June 21st. No School. No Work. Nothing But Skateboarding! Today is our day! Join the grind heard round the world."

In case you doubted the international edge to this sport without borders, the official Go Skateboarding Day website lists over 200 seperate events scheduled for June 21st, 2006, the first day of summer (in the northern hemisphere).
