Mike Vallely Launches Man Versus Skatepark Tour With Sportskool

New York *--- Mike Vallely * (aka "Mike V") will be "skating and relating at full speed" as he goes on a tour of American skateboard locations with new company Sportskool, the "first and only on-demand television network to offer athletic instruction".

The tour, known as the "Man Versus Skatepark *" tour, will visit eleven cities and showcase Vallely's skateboarding and artistic talents through skateboard demonstrations at eight locations, and in-store appearances and solo concerts at the others

The tour is slated to kick off on November 5 at the annual "Light of Day Benefit Concert" in Sayreville, New Jersey * to raise funds for Parkinson's Disease and A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig's Disease) research. Mike is expected to perform alongside musicians such as Soozie Tyrell, Joe Grushecky, Willie Nile, Garland Jeffreys, Jesse Malin, John Eddie and Jeffrey Gaines.

"I look forward to inspiring young people to fulfill their potential through skating or whatever they love to do through the national 'Man vs. Skatepark' tour," says Mike V. "I am very happy to be an 'ambassador' for sportskool where kids can learn skateboarding at an individual pace using cool, on-demand technology."

When he is not on his skateboard, Mike V is also the lead singer of a "hard core punk band" called "Mike V and the Rats" which has toured with Linkin Park *, Snoop Dogg and Korn * on the 2004 * Projekt Revolution Tour.

His music has also been featured in his friend and peer Tony Hawk *'s "Underground" video games series.

Sportskool is the "exclusive presenting sponsor of the tour" and intends to have their logo appear on Mike V's skateboards, posters, flyers, banners and other promotional materials at the events. Sportsool was launched by Rainbow Media in 2004, and claims to be the first network dedicated to delivering "in-depth expert instruction, coaching and guidance for a wide range of sports and athletic activities." The network featyres exclusive and original programming custom-built for on-demand and boasts instruction and coaching from names including Mia Hamm, Nomar Garciaparra, Bill Walton, tennis coach Brad Gilber, training and performance expert, Mark Verstegen, and of course Mike Vallely.

Sportskool recently launched nationwide on Comcast and claims to currently reach over 10 million digital cable subscribers. Parent company Rainbow Media Holdings LLC is a subsidiary of Cablevision Systems Corporation, and creates and manages programming with networks including AMC, Fuse, IFC, and WE: Women's Entertainment Rainbow's other businesses include film distribution, production and exhibition.
