(Posted 9/3/2003)

(Provided by J. Grant Brittain *. Edited by Josh Rabinowitz for SkateboardDirectory.com)

J. Grant Brittain has been Photo Editor and Senior Photographer at TransWorld Skateboarding Magazine * for the past 20 years. In that time he has “helped shape the attitude and aesthetic of what has become the most popular skate magazine in the world”, and has become one of today’s most important and prolific documentarians of popular skateboard culture.

On Thursday, September 18, 2003 * from 7-10PM, the American Institute of Graphic Arts’ San Diego * Chapter will host a special reception for J. Grant Brittain and his photography at its Center for Design, as part of its “Still 79>03” event.

The night’s schedule is to feature “award-winning” cuisine from Hash House of San Diego, live traditional jazz by the Poinciana Trio, and a talk by J. Grant Brittain. Tickets are $15 ($12 for AIGA members/$10 for AIGA student members). The first 500 attendees will receive a commemorative 32-page book designed specially for the event.

The Center for Design’s San Diego Chapter is located at 344 Seventh Avenue in downtown San Diego’s historic Gaslamp Quarter. The “Still 79>03” event continues through October 31. For more information call AIGA at 619.233.5470 or visit aigasandiego.org

This event is sponsored in part by Quiksilver *, Redline Entertainment, Nixon * Watches, Hawk Shoes *, SOS Printing, Smart Paper, Transworld Skateboarding magazine, Chrome Digital, Visible Ink, Hash House, and Rockstar Energy Drink.
