Larry Campbell, the Mayor of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada *, has declared April 26th to May 2nd Skateboard Week in his city.

The mayor further announced that he intends to forward legislation to end the confiscation of skateboards and to recognize the rights of skateboarders to skateboard on city streets as a means of transportation.

Scheduled events include:

Saturday April 26th - Vert Street Challenge contest being held at Pacific Boarder. Sign up 10Am to Noon. Contest starts at 12:00. Contact Pacific Boarder for more details.

Sunday April 27th - Sunny Seylynn Sunday skate session at Seylynn skatepark * with the NVLocs. Wednesday April 30th - The Girls Tour hits Whiterock skatepark and The Shortys team is doing a mini-ramp demo at WestBeach from 4-6PM.

Thursday May 1st - The Ultimate BBQ welcomes visiting pros and skaters to Vancouver at Hastings Skatepark. The Satori Movement will be enlightening the locs at Kirkstone skatepark at 4:00.

Friday May 2nd - Hastings Bowl Sessions * and Legends Jam at Hastings Skatepark. 1-4PM. Also, The Tony Hawk * Skatepark Foundation Demo at Vans * Slam City Jam * starts at 7:00PM.
