The All Girls Skateboard Contest was held January 28th at the National Skatepark Expo * in San Diego *. The top five competitors shared the $2500 prize purse.
According to event organizer SkateWave *, the exciting event was attended by some of the top female athletes in the nation. Each competitor had two 45 second heats on the specially-arranged 10,000 square foot street course, and as the organizer puts it, "these girls were taking full advantage of every obstacle they had in their path."
First Place winner Vanessa Torres * "tore it up, pulling a front side boardslide down the handrail and a crooked grind on the Skatewave Highway Barrier". Lauren Perkins' frontside railslide, powergrinds on the flatbars, and kickflips over the pyramid resulted in a 2nd place win. Lyn-Z Adams * also kickflipped the pyramid, and threw down 180's and took 3rd place.
Alex White left with 4th place and Amanda Aaron garnered 5th.
