HARRISBURG, Pa.-- By skateboard, bike and inline skates, X Games athletes from all over the world are converging upon Philadelphia once again for the 2002 Summer ESPN X Games VIII August 15-19. Five lucky people and a friend will win the chance to see these daring athletes catch air and grind a rail if they register at www.philadelphiaxgames.org or 1-800-VISIT-PA, ext. 320 by July 31, 2002.

The five free trips include: round-trip air for two people via US Airways; double room hotel accommodations for two nights (Aug. 15 & 16) at the Philadelphia Downtown Courtyard; two CityPass ticket booklets good for the Philadelphia Trolley Tour, Philadelphia Zoo, The Academy of Natural Sciences, The Franklin Institute Science Museum and the Independence Seaport Museum; special X Games guest passes; a meet and greet session with the X Games athletes; a tour of the X Games broadcast center; and two tickets for the Ultimate X movie at the Franklin Institute.

"More than 235,000 spectators flocked to the X Games in Philadelphia last year," said Fritz Smith, Pennsylvania's Deputy Secretary of Tourism, Film and Economic Development Marketing. "This year we're giving people a chance to win a trip to the X Games to experience these exciting events and the great city of Philadelphia."

Contestants must be 18 years or older to win. Winners will be posted on the www.philadelphiaxgames.org web site August 2, 2002.

After contestants register, they can link to the www.ExtremePA.com, part of the ExperiencePA.com network, to find information on action and extreme sports in Pennsylvania. The site highlights great places to bike, mountain climb and skateboard in the Keystone State, while offering interactive games and suggestions about some of the best places in Philadelphia to stay and eat during this year's X Games.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, City of Philadelphia, Sports Congress, Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, Greater Philadelphia Tourism and Marketing Corporation, ESPN, US Airways and Philadelphia Downtown Courtyard joined efforts to launch this year's X Games contest.

Pennsylvania is a fantastic destination for year-round travel. Begin planning your Pennsylvania getaway by calling 1-800-VISIT-PA or visiting www.ExperiencePA.com to order a free copy of the 2002 Pennsylvania Travel Planner. Visit the web site often for up-to-date information on events, activities and attractions.

Showcasing nature and outdoors, arts and entertainment, historic places, accommodations and dining and a kids' section, www.ExperiencePA.com offers travel packages, discounts and group travel information.
