According to an article run by Yahoo! and KGTV San Diego *, the city council has recommended that the city perform a study to reconsider allowing Skateboards on San Diego sidewalks, in order to "get people to rely less on their cars."
The study is to look into allowing various human-powered and low-powered vehicles on which the rider stands upright to ride on sidewalks unfettered by the harrassment of Police and their ilk. Vehicles being reconsidered include skateboards, motorized scooters, skates.
Some in San Diego also think Skateboarders should be allowed in lanes currently reserved for bicyclists.
We applaud San Diego residents and city council members for their forward thinking and dedication to alternative transportation and the sport of skateboarding.
