Leap Of Faith
(Posted 10/29/2001)

We all have a Leap Of Faith *
by Shayne Kennedy

We all have a "Leap Of Faith." Some of the time it's because of a situation where we feel something must be done to test ourselves. Or maybe there aren't any other options to find faith in ourselves. When you think of a "Leap Of Faith" what's the first thing that comes to mind? When I think of a "Leap Of Faith *," I think of something you feel you must do, almost something you think you have to do to grow as a person or to better youself.

Jamie Thomas * is a professional Skateboarder from Alabama * whom currently lives in Encinitas, California *. He has been a professional Skateboarder for six of his twelve years Skateboarding. He eats, breaths and sleeps Skateboarding. During his years of amateur and professional Skateboarding he has proven himself time and time again by skating some of the longest and steepest hand rails as well as some of the biggest drops. Among these, the "Leap Of Faith" stands out.

At nearly two stories, the "Leap Of Faith" proved to be one of Jamie's most dangerous feats. Throughout Jamie's career he has pushed his body and his mind to the limit. Sometimes to the point where it breaks (his body). We all strive for greatness, whether you're a lawyer who wants to maintain his record of no losses, or a teacher that focuses on a student with no interest in learning only to completely change his attitude. The only thing that differs is why we try so hard. For some it's an obsession, for others it's just something they have a passion for. Only one thing is for sure: that we all care and try at something no matter how abstract it may be.

Jamie never landed "The Leap Of Faith," but has said in an interview that he would like to try it again someday. Although some things may seem more risky to some than to others, we all have our limits. Our risks, no matter how insignificant to others, push us to our limit. There is no one "Leap Of Faith," nor is one person's leap for sucess more great than the next. To each his own.
